  1. Readers of this blog may be interested to know of a web site that I am currently building, called icode (www.icode.me.uk). Its aim is to encourage very young children (as young as five years) to learn to code. I am using two BASIC platforms – the Texas instruments TI graphics calculator and hand BASIC. The programs are arranged as challenges, in bronze, silver and gold categories. All of the programs are very short (starting with skeleton programs allows young children to see what's going on, and greater sophistication and detail can be added later). I have completed the bronze challenges for both platforms – still working on the silver and gold ones. If you want to have a look, I would welcome comments and suggestions through my site link. Congratulations on creating hand BASIC, by the way. It's a great resource for curious kids. Alan Graham
